We Compost are Auckland’s leading commercial compostable waste collection service, each week collecting over 45,000kg of organic waste and diverting it from going to landfill. Their problem was, after 7 years of operation, their brand positioning and visual identity didn't align with the incredible work they were doing.
Given the huge positive impact composting has on our earth, they wanted to bring it to the masses — not just for the die hard eco-warriors.
Our strategy was to do something fresh for the sector; modern, fun and accessible to everyone. Something memorable that would attract and motivate people of all ages to compost. It needed to go against the grain of the visual world of composting (saturated with leaf logos, recycling symbols and overly worthy messages).
Our solution celebrates the mighty worm (worms play a crucial role in composting). The iconic worm logo is modern and playful and speaks to the grass-roots of composting. We extended this into a bespoke typeface 'Worms Display', as well as a bold graphic worm print for maximum stand-out.
From bin liners to stationery, every touchpoint was an opportunity to grab attention, motivate or educate, and promote this worthy cause.
